Volunteering with style at the Sleepy Hollow Country club

Life is about giving and receiving, and it doesn’t cost a thing to take a little bit of our time to do some volunteering helping the ones in need or support a cause we believe. I am sharing my experience volunteering for  Happy Faces Foundation at Sleepy Hollow to help raise funds for the Ronald McDonald’s House that helps families of kids with cancer.

I got introduced to the Happy Faces Foundation while working for MWA Models Agency that helps to provide the Models to volunteer for their Events. Katherine Mesa, the owner, likes to bring her A Team of Models to cover all the clients needs.

The Golf Tournament happens every year at the Sleepy Hollow Country Club. A beautiful historical place with a fascinating story and excellent accommodations for the members and guests.

The house was built by the Vanderbilt’s and then sold to the Rockefellers later on and in 1911 was turned into a Country Club. And it is rated among the best ones in America. The main house has impressive 19th-century architecture outside and inside so as all of the club facilities.

Sleepy Hollow was famously portrayed by author Washington Irving with his fiction short story “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” the story of a headless man believed to be a Hessian soldier who lost his head to a cannonball in a battle. The members of the country club thought he threw his head in one of the Golf Course holes and it was named  “ The Haunted Bridge.”

After hearing all these stories about the Legend, I got inspired in doing a Fashion Shoot the night before the event taking advantage of the beautiful house interior.

For the first look, I am wearing a Ted Baker midi dress. It is certainly a classy piece to have as part of your wardrobe.

The second look is a silk slip dress customized by TashNY. Having your garments tailored according to your body measurements makes a big difference.

The slip dresses are so on during these days; it is an item to be considered to be part of your closet for the fall season.

The rooms in the Country club are comfortable with impeccable 19th-century design and accommodate all your needs like a 5-star hotel.

The breakfast was my favorite meal of the day. It was served in a continental style filled with fruits, juices, pastries and a personal chef customizing Omelets for you.

The fall in NY started with summer temperature. It was a hot fun day for golfers and volunteers at Sleepy Hollow!

After the golf tournament, there is a dinner party for all the participants full of activities including live and silent Auctions, a live band music playing entertaining the guests.

The most touching moment of the party it was during David Lipson speech when He shared with the guests his journey in helping to raise funds for The Ronald McDonald House.

After his son was diagnosed  and he faced everything a family goes through motivated him to start helping the ones in the same situation. Today, David is the treasurer of The Happy Faces Foundation organizing the fundraising events and inviting people to donate and support the cause. He and his team are a real inspiration for all of us.

The joy of being able to collaborate and bring my happy face to this event is priceless. The World would be a better place if We could all take some time of our lives to help each other.
