Sushi by Bou: An Omakase experience for Sushi lovers

Sushi by Bou is an Omakase Sushi experience, which means the Chef will pick his choices for you. I got a chance to go to their Suite 1001 location and I will be sharing the experience in detail with you.

The Sushi by Bou has different locations around NYC and I visited the one located inside the Hotel 3232. As I got there I was greeted by the front desk and it was given to me the key for the Suite 1001, as I opened the door I found the room set up as a private Sushi bar. They also have a terrace set up with a bar for drinks that only can be used in warm seasons.

As soon as everything is set up to start we were invited to seat at the Sushi bar and the Chef Kevin asked if we had any food restrictions or allergies and then began serving us a small seafood dish.

The experience by itself lasts 60 minutes,  which has included 17 pieces and We had a round of Suntory flight including 3 cocktails. The Omakase experience costs $125 per person at the Sushi by Bou and you can do your reservation by text message for a fast response.

Seared Tuna

The selection that the Chef picked for us during the experience included a selection of different tuna rolls, salmon, prawn and scallop pieces during the course. He gave us a little explanation about the pieces while he was preparing and serving. They also have a Sake vending machine that you can purchase 3 oz pours and pair with your Omakase experience.

The whole experience goes around the food, so be prepared to taste and enjoy the different types of rolls and small bites selected by the Chef for you.

Hamachi Roll

There was a huge selection of tuna rolls witch I thought could be a little bit more of a variety of pieces to be included in the menu to not be too repetitive for the palette; although for the ones interested in trying different types of tuna and learn more about the fish will definitely enjoy it.

The Sushi by Bou offers a cocktail menu selection a la carte that I would only recommend you to try if you have extra time before or after the experience to drink, or in case you go in a warm-weather season when their terrace is open. The Suntory Spirits flight cocktails featuring whiskey, vodka, and gin cocktails included with our Omakase experience were served to us in towards the end of the 60 minutes. If you are like me that sips the cocktails to perfection, please make sure you start to have them during the beginning of the small courses so you are able to enjoy the drinks.

As soon as the Omakase food experience is done you will have to leave the room for the next reservation that runs by the hour, I am not very used to this since when I am out for dinner I like to enjoy my time to the most with cocktails and dessert but you won’t be able to do that for this experience.

You have the option to have cocktails after at the Sushi By Bou Nomad, located at the lobby of the Hotel 3232  after the private Omakase experience without rushing. It has a great vibe featuring The Notorious Big on the graffiti wall by the sound of classic hip hop tunes.

In my honest opinion, I would recommend you go to an Omakase experience if you are a true sushi lover and you are comfortable in only using the 60 minutes time that will be given to you for the experience. In this case, you will have an awesome time during the Sushi by Bou Omakase experience with great sushi prepared by a private chef especially for you.
