Rio 2016 Olympic Brazilian Cocktails

I am very excited the Olympic Games are happening in Brazil this year, and even more special is that it is in Rio, my hometown. I always loved watching the competitions and I admire the dedication and motivation of all the athletes competing at the Olympic Games.

The Olympic Games represent the union of all the continents in one place sharing all the energy surrounded by the Event. To celebrate all the confraternization created by the Olympics, I was inspired to make the “The Olympic Caipi Cocktails”, mixed with natural ingredients found in Brazil: Guarana, fresh coconut water, and different fruits to represent the ring colors.

All the ring colors on the Olympic emblem, including the white background, were chosen because they appear on all the national flags of the world at the present time when Pierre de Frédy, Baron de Coubertin created the design of the classic Olympic Rings. The five interlacing rings in the center were also symbolically important as they represented the five inhabited continents of the world.

The Guarana is a special fruit from the Amazon with an energetic value. It has long been used in my home country as a natural energy drink. I used coconut water since it is also frequently found in Brazil and  picked Cachaca as the spirit since it is the National Spirit of Brazil. However, the Cachaca can be replaced with vodka or Sake and can be made in a non-alcoholic version.

As another part of my celebration for the Olympics, I have decided to hold my own Olympic event on my blog: “Miss Caipi Marathon”. I am going around the city throughout the entire duration of the Olympic games and exploring Brazilian restaurants and Miss Caipi will be hosting Olympic happy hour events around NYC. Stay tuned for my new series!
