Cinco de Mayo Caipi

Cinco de Mayo seems like one of those days I spend the entire year waiting for. I have all these plans for this special day and BAM! here it is finally! I made a special Ginger Caipi to share with you all for this holiday.

Cinco de Mayo is the celebration of Mexican pride and heritage. People go out to celebrate and it has become a festival that has reached far beyond the borders of Mexico, even spreading to my hometown in Brazil. In Rio, bars and restaurants open and we all celebrate Mexican culture along with our own Brazilian culture. This year, to combine the tastes of both these cultures into a simple unique DIY recipe. I have mixed together the tanginess of lemon with a sweet nectar. Traditional Mexican drinks include Margaritas, Mojitos, and Tequila Sunrises, but I’ve added a Brazilian twist with the Cachaca. You’ll often find Caipirinhas sweet and boozy, maybe with a smell of tequila. But with my Cinco de Mayo Caipi, I’ve added the Mexican kick with the Ginger Liquor. With all the ingredients together, it is the perfect combination of tanginess, sweetness, and a little gingery kick.

Have fun and refresh yourself with the Cinco de Mayo Caipi and I would love to know your favorite drink recipes for the holiday. Leave me a comment!
