Self-improvement plays a huge role in my life and I find it important to share with you what I use to keep my mind and spirit sharp. I first started with using Astrology, introduced to me by my mother, which I use as a guidance. Astrology helps me understand myself and the events happening around me at the moment resulting in better decisions and a deeper comprehension of life’s journey.
Years ago I did a Western Birth Chart, even till now I am always impressed at how accurate is. Not long ago, I was recommended by a special person to read a book written by the first bestseller Astrologer Author Linda Goodman, Star Signs ” The Secret Codes of the Universe” which brought me a deeper knowledge about the Sun Signs and how they play a role in our lives and relationships, It is worth to check out her work if you are interested in knowing a little bit more on the subject. I also came across an interesting Harpers Bazaar Astrology Article interviewing Astrologer Jennifer Angel about the same topic.
To clarify the most common questions people ask me, I interviewed Barbara Burgos who is a Western Brazilian Astrologer. She provides her professional point of view about the topic. She has been doing my annual charts, and she has a simple and pure approach to explaining Astrology.
Interview:
Carla Anapurus: How would you define astrology in a very simple way?
Barbara Burgos: Astrology is the study of the celestial bodies in our solar system and how they affect our personality and the events in our lives.
Carla Anapurus: What should I look for when choosing an Astrologer?
Barbara Burgos: First of all, there are different systems in Astrology, such as Traditional or Modern, Western or Vedic, and niches such as Vocational, Relationships or Karmic. It´s perfectly fine to ask a professional if he/she has a niche of expertise. If not, that’s ok as well, just make sure their particular line of work is in tune with what you are looking for.
Carla Anapurus: What are the most common misunderstandings people have about astrology?
Barbara Burgos: I feel the biggest misunderstanding happens when people don’t take free will into account. Astrology is not a determinant; it shows potential and paths you can follow. It also points out the pitfalls to avoid and the best times to make decisions. The client may choose to ignore the interpretation as a whole, but they will also miss out on opportunities. Other common misunderstanding is that, for instance, astrology cannot predict the height and hair color of your future husband, but it can surely examine what sort of personality is a good match for you.
